People use the net mostly for searching things or information using some words that match their query at the best. Try to use these words (you can utilize the Google keyword tool for a better understanding) in your meta tags and content so that your web site appears at a high rank in the search results. The better your rank in the search engines, the more chances of people clicking on it and coming to your site.-Directory Submission:
Post your site's link to as many free directories as possible. However, remember to keep an eye on the page ranks of these directories (for a new web site, anything over and above 2 is to be taken into consideration).
-Posting blog-comments:
Find some popular blogs related to your business area. See if you can post a relevant comment on these blogs (most have comment moderation enabled though). Remember that quality blogs don't like spam. So, it's better to read the content and post comments rather than blindly choosing something as bland as "Nice post" or "Thanks for sharing". Be careful with the top ranked blogs and try your experimentation of posting the generalized comments ("Nice post" or "Thanks for sharing") on the others.
-Submit articles:
Find some highly ranked article submission sites and post informative write-ups in these.
-Comment on articles:
Just like blogs, some articles allow you to post comments. Find some good ranked articles and see if they allow you to share your views on the topics discussed. If you can, you will get free back links from them (Like blogs, most will ask for your web site URL when you submit comments. Once your comment appears on the site, a link will automatically come that will direct readers to your web site).
